Senior Pastor’s Devotional
Day 95 Recovery Movement Control Order – “Strategic Psalm 91 Watch”
“We have renounced secret and shameful ways; we do not use deception, nor do we distort the word of God. On the contrary, by setting forth the truth plainly we commend ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God.”
2 Cor. 4:2
What is “conscience”? This is the basic knowledge of what is right or wrong that all human beings will have as God has made us with a conscience.
However, as a result of faulty teachings during the course of time, some of us feel guilty (conscious stricken) when we shouldn’t and don’t feel conscience stricken when we should.
If you are a person who is still feeling guilty conscience, you will have to deal with it because if not, you will be restrained from the potentials that you are capable of. Confess it before God, do not repeat the mistake and then fully embrace the forgiveness of God. If you are still struggling with your conscience, it is not because God has not forgiven you, but it is that you find it hard to forgive yourself! That is the bondage you have to be freed from.
There is also another area known as “false guilt”. False guilt comes from early conditioning, usually from family, but it can be caused by legalistic religion too. Some people were brought up thinking that to “relax” equals ‘laziness.” They feel guilty when they are not busy! There are others who feel guilty when they give themselves a treat because they were brought up in a thrifty culture. To overcome this issue one needs to re-condition his thoughts and feelings. It starts with recognizing what is true and what is false.
