“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
Matthew 6:21

Sir Winston Churchill once said “An optimist sees an opportunity in every calamity; a pessimist sees a calamity in every opportunity.” In other words, we all see pretty much of what we WANT to see—often times what is based on our PRIORITIES or VALUES.

Toby Montgomery reminds us that “what we give our time, energy and resources to are what we value most.” These are our priorities.”

Or as Jesus put it, “Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

The pandemic has shaken and changed some of our values and priorities. What is important in some countries is to stop the spread of the virus – and not about planning the Olympic Games.

We should also evaluate. In the midst of fears, uncertainty surrounding us, what is important is to maintain the peace in our heart and our health – isn’t it? How do we do this?

Let us be reminded to spend time with God. This you will do by reading and learning from His Word consistently. Build a prayer life that is relational rather than a ritual. Talk to Him from your spirit or heart in the course of the day.

Secondly, obey and live out the Word that you have learned. Let what you THINK, SAY or DO be consistent with His instructions and teachings.

When you build upon these priorities and practices these ‘easier said than done’ disciplines – you will have the God of Peace guiding you through this turbulence.
