Senior Pastor’s Devotional
Day 32 Movement Control Order – “Strategic Psalm 91 Watch”
Prayer is a 2 way communication.
How do we hear from God?
In what ways does God speak to us?
Thus far, we have learned…..
1. The Bible/His Word.
Have you been digging your well and filling it with the Word?
2. Guidance through Circumstances.
Today, we learn about
3. The Inner voice of the Holy Spirit.
The Inner Voice of the Holy Spirit can come through:-
a. A non pre determined “thought” or “mental picture”.
Acts 21:10-11
After we had been there a number of days, a prophet named Agabus came down from Judea. Coming over to us, he took Paul’s belt, tied his own hands and feet with it and said, “The Holy Spirit says, ‘In this way the Jewish leaders in Jerusalem will bind the owner of this belt and will hand him over to the Gentiles.”
Agabus “saw” in the spirit realm how Paul will face the persecution ahead of him.
b. A sense within/ a feeling of uneasiness.
Eg.Paul in Acts 16:16-18 – Paul sensed that the servant girl who was shouting there came from an evil spirit.
c. The “still small” voice / a gentle whisper in our heart.
Often, that voice may be in our heart – telling us to reach out to someone or a voice that tells us to pray or to read His Word. We may have a tendency to just reject or set aside that inner voice.
We struggle over discerning which is which because our thoughts can come from 3 different sources:-
a. Our self.
-Peter’s own thoughts of setting up 3 shelters at the Mt Transfiguration.
Matthew 17:3-6.
b. The devil.
-Eg.the devil tries to put thoughts into our mind. Like Peter he seeks to divert us from God’s will.
Matthew 16:21-23.
– Jesus rebuked satan who was influencing Peter that the cross was not necessary.
c. God’s Spirit.Matthew 16:15-17.
–The disciples declared that Jesus is the Messiah – Son of the Living God and Jesus said that it was a revelation from the Father.
So how do we discern or identify which is which?
Question:- Can you identify your spouse or your children’s voice?
We are able to and it is because we have been spending time with them. Similarly, spending time with our heavenly Father will enhance our ability to know His voice.
