Audacious Faith. Authentic Love

The New Year will be filled with situations and challenges that will require us to learn to ‘walk on water’ or to exercise our faith and trust in our Lord.

teFaith and Love. These were the two words that filled my heart as we were praying and planning for 2018.

Let me share what is in my mind and spirit. The New Year will be filled with situations and challenges that will require us to learn to ‘walk on water’ or to exercise our faith and trust in our Lord. As a church, we will be walking by faith and we will be praying that the dream will become a reality – in the building project that we are aiming for. We will all need to build an ‘audacious faith’ – a faith that is courageous; a faith that will take the risk. In one of his series of sermons, Pastor Steven Furtick of Elevation Church said, “Being brave doesn’t mean we have no fear – it means we refuse to be overcome by it.”

The scripture also forewarns us that “Sin will be rampant everywhere, and the love of many will grow cold” – Matt. 24:12. Another scripture adds, “Owe nothing to anyone–except for your obligation to love one another. If you love your neighbour, you will fulfil the requirements of God’s law.” – Rom.13:8. As the day of the coming of the Lord grows closer, challenges and difficulties will increase. It is during this time that our ‘authentic love’ will be put to the test. Do we really love the Lord? Do we really love each other as the family of God?

As we fill up our calendar with many plans, let me encourage you to give time to building up your faith and the love of God within your heart. You will need these very much in the coming days to ‘fight the good fight of the faith.’

Here’s to a year of Audacious Faith, Authentic Love.
