Knowing The Truth – Part 2
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
(John 16:33)
Jesus says, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace.”
I want to share to you something about myself: Part of my ministry or my work is to visit the poor in their homes. Walking and visiting the community in the poor area or in not-so-familiar places – it can be scary at times, if I’m honest. What do I fear? I fear that I am not capable for the work – that I do not know the right things to say or help; I fear being mocked or rejected; and I fear any dangerous situations. But I choose to believe what Jesus says in the Bible: God is with me, I shall not fear for He is with me. He is the Maker of heaven and earth, my Father, my Provider, my Sun and Shield, my Wisdom and my Joy. He is my Peace.
These are truths about Jesus found in His Word. These are the comfort and promises that will give me the peace in my heart. I believe Jesus can also give you the peace that you need in your heart. With truth in our hearts, you can be set free from a troubled heart, from anxiousness and most importantly, any irrational fear of stepping out and doing the things in life that God has called us to do here on earth.
