MARRIAGE REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS AND CONDITIONS

Marriage Registration

The couple must complete the required Marriage Preparation Course, which include the private counselling sessions. The Course will take at least 2 months (if conducted regularly), and should be conducted at least 6 months before the planned wedding date.

Below are the fees charged for the entire course. This includes the cost of Couple Check-up Assessment.
Registered members of Charis – RM200.00
Attendees of Charis – RM250.00
Non-attendees of Charis – RM350.00

Punctuality is important but prior to unforeseen reasons, the counsellor must be notified if the couple is unable to make it for the appointment.

Strict confidentiality will be exercised throughout the counselling course.

The couple must show seriousness and commitment in preparing for the marriage and not just the wedding, by adhering to and fulfilling necessary considerations during the course.

No sexual contact BEFORE marriage. It is the couple’s responsibility to inform the counsellor if they had physical consummation before marriage. The counsellor will then discuss how the ceremony will be conducted differently.

Pre-marital counselling may be stopped if the rules are not adhered to.

MARRIAGE REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS AND CONDITIONS

Marriage Registration

The couple must be born-again Christians who have undergone water baptism.

The couple, preferably, should join a life group and a regular consistent church attendance is highly encouraged.

The couple must complete the required Marriage Preparation Course, which include the private counselling sessions. The Course will take at least 2 months (conducted regularly), and should be conducted at least 6 months before the planned wedding date.

The couple must show seriousness and commitment in preparing for the marriage and not just the wedding, by adhering to and fulfilling necessary considerations during the course.

For marriage applications done through the church’s assistant registrar (Pastor Lawrence Yap is one), a fee of RM100 will be charged. For outside people, meaning non-Charis attendees, a fee of RM200 will be charged.

If the couple desires to go through a church ceremony conducted by Charis Christian Centre’s pastor, the couple must not register with the Registrar of Marriage without prior consent from the Church. If done so, satisfactory explanation must be give subjected to the church’s consideration.

The couple must understand that any wedding date prior to a personal meeting with relevant church’s pastor/counsellor are considered tentative and subjected to the church’s agreement and confirmation, at least 6 months before the planned wedding date.

The choice of the officiating minister will be decided by the Senior Pastor. The Senior Pastor will officiate the marriage ceremony, subject to his availability. In the even if a prior event crops up, he reserves the right to appoint one of the other pastors to officiate the marriage.

When full-time staff are invited for the wedding dinner, please note that they will give a token ang pau.
