Journeying With God | God Is Enough pt 3

by Pastor Shirley Liang

Shalom! Welcome back. Today is our Part 3 of God Is Enough series. Is Jesus man or God? How can He be man and God at the same time? Why did Jesus have to die for us? Did He have to die?

In Christ we are reconciled to God and granted salvation – eternity in the presence of our God. Why is Jesus enough for us to
attain eternity?

This and the coming sessions are going to be a little bit more theological, but I think it will be beneficial for us and it will help us understand Christianity better.

Today, we are going to look at the deity of Christ. Next session, we are going to talk about the humanity of Christ. And the last session we are going to wrap up on the divine nature and human nature of Jesus.

Jesus is God.

He is not just someone who is like God or close to God. He is God. He was worshipped (Matthew 2:11; 14:33). He was called God (John 1:1; 20:28). He was called the Son of God (Mark 1:1; John 1:18). He knows all things (Luke 11:17). He gives eternal life (John 10:28). Jesus though He became man, was eternal and uncreated – these are attributes of God.

In the doctrine of Trinity, God is one Being that exists in three Persons – Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Each is distinct from the other two, and each fully God. In the Godhead, Jesus is the Son.

Each Person of the Trinity is not one-third of God. Each Person is fully divine, fully God. Therefore, Jesus is fully God.

The deity of Christ is imperative and indispensable, why?

Firstly, we can have real knowledge of God through Jesus because Jesus is God;

Secondly, the worship of Christ is appropriate for He is God

Thirdly, God and humanity have been reunited through Jesus

Fourthly, redemption is available to us. The death of Christ is sufficient for all sinners who have ever lived for it was not a mere human who died, but the infinite God. Amen?

We worship a God who entered humanity because He loves you and me.
