Among the many dictionary definitions identified and in particular for our faith and lesson context,
we will be applying the word “SERVE/SERVING” as

• to act as a servant
• to render assistance or help
• to contribute to or promote the interests of
• to meet requirements or needs
• to answer the purpose

The words ‘serve, service and servant ‘ in various forms occur well over 1,100 times in the  New International Version (NIV) Bible.
